About Loko I'a Pa'akea and Malama Pa'akea o Waimalu
Historically the largest loko i'a (fishpond) created by Kalanimanuia, Mo'i Wahine (Queen) of Oahu, Pa'akea now rests nestled in the Ahupua'a of Waimalu, less than one tenth what it was before. Malama Pa'akea o Waimalu was founded with the goal and the mission of preserving what is left of the fishpond, and returning as much land as possible back to Loko I'a Pa'akea.
