Community Workdays

Malama Pa'akea o Waimalu is successful only with a dedicated group of volunteers to assist with restoration and maintenance work at our loko i'a. We generally offer both wet and dry work and your participation will depend on age, environment, and how you may be feeling on a particular day. Wet work might include moving rocks, removing invasive plant species, and removing silt using buckets. Dry work might include removing invasive plant species, laying pavers, installing gravel, and planting. Offered 8AM to every 3rd Saturday of the Month.

What to bring

We have equipment and supplies on hand and ask all volunteers to bring the following:
  • covered shoes (tabis if you have them)
  • work clothes you don't mind getting dirty
  • reef friendly sunscreen
  • refillable water bottle...we will provide water coolers
  • mess kit (plate, bowl, and utensils)...snacks and lunch will be provided
